The Athlete Development Program (ADP) Cycling Squad is aimed at student athletes who show potential in the sport of Track and Road Cycling. We envision to be a leading pathway for student-athletes to achieve sporting, academic and personal excellence.
Our goal is to instill training ethic, knowledge and attitude across all aspects specific to cycling. To provide opportunities and enjoyment through the sport of cycling.
This program will prepare the athletes for the following:
- Club championships
- Bendigo Club Racing
- Auscycling Victoria Open Events
- Vic School Cycling Championships (TBC)
Training
The Cycling Squad is integrated fully into ADP:
- Training will be Tuesday morning 7:00am – 8:00am meeting at the ADP Hub
Training will involve the following:
- Development of skills
- Development of pedalling action
- Correct positioning on the bike
- Endurance
- Sprinting
- Tactics/Race day preparation
- Recovery
- Hygiene
- Self-monitoring training load
- Explanations of types of training
- Aspects of heart rate & power training
- Watt Bike and Ergo sessions/Fitness Testing
